Ok! I'm ready to go! What do I do first?The first step is to schedule your complimentary intake call with me. In this call we will get to know each other a bit while I answer any questions you may have. We will determine whether this is the right program at the right time for you. If the answer is NO, no worries at all (there is zero obligation)!! If the answer is YES, we will process your payment over the phone. I will then order your lab test, and once your results are in, I will order your meal plan from MB headquarters in Germany. From there, the fun begins!

What if I don't live in your area?I am happy to work with anyone within the United States! All sessions are available on Zoom, which many local clients prefer for convenience sake as well.

I've tried so many diets and have not been successful. What is different about Metabolic Balance?Unlike all of the diets you’ve either heard of or tried (Low Fat/Low-Calorie, Keto, Paleo, Vegetarian/Plant-Based/WFPB, Atkins, Carnivore/Caveman, Intermittent Fasting, etc.) – Metabolic Balance is completely TAILOR MADE FOR YOU and nobody else. To be sure, there are other metabolic support diet plans out there - in fact, as you know, there are droves of diets that will help people lose weight in the short term. These diets, however often fail to get at the root cause of what causes an individual’s specific health issues, because they do not take into consideration the person’s unique needs. The blood test, and the team in Germany who know how to interpret blood values and provide a 100% customized meal plan, are what make this unlike anything else out there. If Metabolic Balance® is so great, why have I not heard of it until now?Metabolic Balance has been quite revered in Europe for the past 20 years. Interest in this phenomenal program is ramping up quickly, and when Jane Durst Pulkys’ book, The Metabolic Balance Kitchen is published in early 2025 – a lot of people will be looking for a coach. It has only been a matter of time before this became a well-known phenomena in the US!

How will I know if Metabolic Balance® will work for me?If you follow the 8 Rules and diligently adhere to Phase 2 (Strict Conversion), you will feel a major increase in general vitality and well-being. Weight loss is merely a side effect of a body working properly with balanced hormones and metabolism. If weight loss should come to a stall at any point, your coach will offer a number of effective solutions to get you back on track. Having a personal coach has been proven to increase your success rates exponentially. You are never alone in this! To lend even more confidence in the program it is helpful to understand that this is an award-winning, peer-reviewed, scientifically proven, doctor-promoted program with the highest success rate of all programs tested worldwide. If you follow the meal plan with a sincere effort, you WILL see results.

I've read online that this is a 12 week program. Is that true?No, not necessarily! If you have less weight to lose, it is possible to reach your weight goals on this program much sooner – however, to fully balance your metabolism and change your relationship with food permanently, it is recommended to stay on it for a minimum of 5 weeks. Regardless of how long it takes you to reach your initial goals, your coaching plan includes 7 check-in sessions. That is my commitment to you as your coach, because I know that having that follow-up support can be just as valuable in the long-term as your meal plan and initial successes.

Are the foods on the plan hard to find or expensive?Nearly everything on your meal plan can be found in your local supermarket, Costco or local natural grocer. These are simple, everyday, whole foods (fresh meats, poultry and seafood, fresh cheeses, fresh vegetables and fruit, raw nuts and seeds, oats, etc.). Any specialty items offered in your meal plan are considered optional and a single purchase often lasts through the duration of your plan (for example, many specialty foods can be frozen and used a little at a time).

Will I be hungry all the time?NO!!! In fact, you may even find you have more food than you want to eat at times, but when you get into the rhythm of eating this way, you learn that you are eating exactly the amount of food your body needs – no more, no less. This is in no way a starvation diet! This way of eating is totally unique in that it keeps your insulin levels from spiking and subsequently squashes hunger pangs. You will feel satisfied, balanced, and able to easily go 5 hours between meals without feeling weak or like you have low blood-sugar. You may even have to remind yourself that it’s time to eat again (really).

I am not much of a cook. Can I still do this?Absolutely! This program is about going back to basics – re-training our taste buds and bodies to savor clean, simple, and whole foods. A Metabolic Balance meal can be as simple as a piece of meat surrounded by a few cut up veggies in a single pan, avocado on crackers with sliced store-bought turkey breast (yes, there are even a couple approved lunch meats!), or a bowl of yogurt with fruit in it. There will be quicker meal options mixed in with others where a recipe might be fun to try, but you do not have to use recipes if you don’t want to. However, you may find that when you reset your relationship and intention with the food you eat, cooking becomes very enjoyable! I also recommend prepping some foods for the week which makes quick meal creation a breeze. You will learn from trial and error which cooking methods you like best. And don’t worry – I am always on hand to offer tips, tricks, and recipes if and when you want them!

What if I need to travel while on the program?Not a problem. We do recommend that you schedule to start your program when you will have the first 16 days without events or travel. Phase 1 is a gentle detox and you definitely want to be home for this! The next 14 days require strice adherence to the program as it is outlined and therefore it is best that you have no eating engagements or travel scheduled for this time. Beyond those first 16 days, travel will not be a problem with a bit of planning and many restaurants in the US will gladly accommodate your dietary restrictions. As long as you stay as close to the plan as possible, and follow the 8 Rules, you can get back on the plan 100% when you return home. If you follow this advice, it is helpful to understand that for those going on a cruise for example, you may be more likely to maintain your weight than to lose weight until you return home and begin preparing meals at home again.

What about exercise?During Phase 1, rest is paramount. During the first 14 days of Phase 2, it is not recommended to begin a fitness routine. If you are already in the habit of exercising regularly, you will want to reduce the intensity so that your heart rate stays in the fat-burning range and not the carbohydrate-burning range (stay in zone 2). Burning carbs will cause you to be much hungrier on your plan! The best rule of thumb is, if you can easily carry on a conversation while exercising, you are in the fat-burning range. As soon as your breathing becomes labored, you are working too hard and burning carbs instead of fat. At 14 days and beyond, you are encouraged to introduce some exercise to your routine as doing so will speed up the weight loss process (remember - more muscle means more fat burning). This is helped greatly by an increase in your FOXA2 levels once your metabolism is balanced! FOXA2 is an activating protein that causes your muscles to want to move - making exercise far more desirable and enjoyable. FOXA2 is suppressed when insulin levels are chronically high as they are in the standard American diet. This is one of the many interesting things that sets the Metabolic Balance® diet apart. Once you begin moving more, wearing a simple pedometer may be useful. A habit of 10,000 steps per day is a great starting point. This can be achieved by parking far away from your destination, taking the steps instead of the elevator, an afternoon walk, etc.

Is there anyone who should NOT do this program?Yes, there are a few health conditions which preclude individuals from participating in the Metabolic Balance program. They are: Pregnancy (if you become pregnant during the program, you must stop the program and continue after the pregnancy) Kidney disease/severe renal failure Any other health condition or disease that may be affected adversely by weight loss

What if I need to GAIN weight, not lose weight?This program is about metabolic BALANCING, not weight loss. This means that underweight individuals will reach their optimal weight on the program. It is important to understand that if you are already underweight but believe you need to lose more weight, you may be disappointed to find that you have gained weight with Metabolic Balance. During the intake process, we will work together to ensure this is the right program to help you reach a healthy weight goal for your height and age.

What if I am happy with my weight and I just want to address other health issues like diabetes, cancer, hormonal imbalances, auto-immune disorders, etc?Metabolic Balance will identify nutritional deficiencies within your body, balance your hormones, hydrate your vital organs and greatly reduce inflammation – the root cause of autoimmune disorders, cancers, arthritis, and countless other health issues. This program also has a number of wonderful anti-aging benefits as well! If you have cancer or are recovering from surgery, this plan is great for you as it contains just the right nutrients for you and in the right amounts to give your body the best possible chance at healing.

Do you work with vegans/vegetarians?While the approved protein options become more limited, Metabolic Balance will create vegetarian plans without issue. The main challenge with a fully vegan plan is that the concentrated proteins that fit with metabolic rebalancing are limited, so you will have quite a bit of repetition with your daily protein options. But with the right recipes, this can still be an effective and enjoyable program with wonderful health benefits. For those wanting to lose the most possible weight in the shortest amount of time, it is strongly recommended to include animal proteins (with the knowledge that, once you enter Phase 3, you can begin to reduce or eliminate animal proteins and swap for clean vegan proteins). But for those who are unable to eat animal protein at all, I can create a best-case scenario vegan plan for you to help you stabilize your insulin levels and ensure you are getting the right ratio of plant-based proteins and carbohydrates in your diet.

What results can I expect in terms of weight loss?On average, Metabolic Balance clients tend to lose 5-20 lbs in the first 16 days, and then approximately 2 lbs per week thereafter until their optimal body weight has been achieved. For some individuals with more weight to lose, weight loss can happen faster. Adding regular exercise in after the first 16 days also speeds weight loss.

What happens when the program is "finished" and I go back to my "normal" way of eating?Since the program is designed to retrain your brain and taste buds to desire the foods that are going to nourish you in the way you specifically need, you will be less likely to indulge like you used to. You simply won't want to. And if you do, you won't feel well and won't want to do that again! If you want to maintain what you have trained yourself to do in this time on the program, it is best to stick with as many of the 8 rules as you can permanently. However, even people who drop 7 of the 8 rules can stay on track for a duration of time. If you find that you are slowly gaining again, it is time to do a reality check on your eating habits. Anything you have trained yourself to do can slowly slip away if you don't stay aware and conscious of your food choices. You can't be healthy eating like you ate before, and that won't change just because you did Metabolic Balance® for a while. This program is different because it not only adjusts your weight, but it resets your eating habits altogether.

Do you promote an organic lifestyle?At Metabolic Balance, we believe that adequate nutrition should be as natural as possible. The more food has been processed and the more additives have been added, the more likely it will negatively affect the body. Therefore, Metabolic Balance recommends local, natural, organic foods - as fresh as possible. One benefit of this program is that it will get you in the habit of reading your food labels. It is important to pay close attention to what you are putting into your body which means staying away from impurities that are and are NOT on the label like pesticides and herbicides, irradiated food, or GMOs! These processes and impurities contribute to inflammation and subsequently weight gain and eventually chronic disease in the long run. I will not harp on this with my clients, because we all have to make our own choices, but it is certainly worth stressing at least once. My answer, when you ask, will always be the same....stick to organic food if you find it possible to do that.

How will this program help me sleep better?Chronically high insulin levels (common amongst most modern humans) lead to increased stress hormones (cortisol, adrenaline) and suppress melatonin production. High insulin levels increase fat storage, and because melatonin is fat-soluble, overweight individuals lose access to even more of their own melatonin as it becomes stored in the body fat. Once insulin levels are brought back in check, the body not only produces more melatonin, but the melatonin already stored in the fat cells begins to release. Most clients report excellent energy during the day followed by an appropriate and unavoidable tiredness when it's time to sleep. You will be awake when you should be and tired when you should be. And because cortisol and adrenaline levels also decrease with a balanced metabolism, clients find their minds racing less, and that they have a better chance at sleeping through the night.

Does this program really work for anti-aging?YES! The founding doctor, Dr. Funfack, presents at anti-aging conferences where he sits among the top anti-aging scientists and doctors worldwide. Metabolic Balance is highly respected as an anti-aging method using only the food we eat, which is both very unique! This program reverses countless symptoms associated with aging - most importantly it increases collagen production, the main substance that keeps our skin, bones and tissues supple and flexible.

Can I claim this program through my health insurance benefits?Some people are able to claim their Metabolic Balance plan through their Health Savings Account as it falls under nutritional counseling.

Do you work with diabetics?Yes, Metabolic Balance supports clients with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. For Type 2 diabetics, this is the ideal program. For Type 1 diabetes, you will work closely with your doctor to ensure the program is right for you and if so, to provide ongoing support with your plan.

Is alcohol allowed on the program?Once you enter into Phase 3, you will be allowed a weekly "treat meal." This treat meal should still follow the 8 rules as much as reasonably possible, but there is wiggle room! With a treat meal, a glass of wine may be enjoyed. Wine, particularly red wine, has some health-promoting benefits due to its resveratrol content. In the big picture, it is best not to overindulge when it comes to alcohol, so enjoy your time in Phases 1 & 2 to connect with your body, heart, mind and soul and tap into what you and your body truly need. You will likely find that even once you are allowed, you don't want to indulge to the same level as before. By Phase 4, you will have returned to your life and will find your new balance with your alcohol consumption. Once you learn to listen to your body's signals, you will find the truth of what works best for you!
